What does a live-in carer do?

Some of the key duties are:

• Personal care – washing and bathing, dressing and continence support if needed
• Carrying out a care plan – administering and overseeing medication
• Companionship – offering emotional support, making conversation, keeping one another company
• Mobility assistance – some clients require help to move around their home.
• Domestic tasks – keeping the home clean, laundry and ironing, as well as food preparation and cooking
• Every day odd-jobs – running small errands or helping with tasks such as collecting prescriptions
• Medical support – for those clients who require extra support for complex health issues. Care assistant training can be provided to support these needs

The application process

1. Apply online – to register your interest in becoming a carer
2. Telephone interview – one of our recruitment team members will call you
3. Pre-employment checks – we will ask for an enhanced DBS check and for two references
4. Online assessment – you will be invited to a two-day assessment course
5. Face to face induction – attend a paid two-day induction course at a local centre. You are then hired and can start work
